BOOK LAUNCH, WEDNESDAY, MAY 18
Charlotte Peasley, an 8th grader at Charlotte Elementary, is releasing her first book, "The Things I Write," a collection of short stories and poetry, at a book launch to take place on May 18 @ 6 pm at Pembroke Library. Charlotte began the book-writing process through her Personal Learning Project (PLP). PLPs are completed each year by all students in the upper classroom at Charlotte Elementary School. During this year-long process, students identify interests and explore careers that might allow them to explore those interests. As part of the project, students connect with adult mentors who are experts in the field the student is exploring. Through the PLP mentorship program, the student and the adult work together to set goals and complete activities that help the student better understand the field about which they are learning.
There will be a limited number of books available for sale--$16.99 for hardcovers and $11.99 for paperbacks. Charlotte will read sections from her book and be happy to sign copies. Refreshments will be served.
